Emergency Info
Current Mandates

Starting September 15th, 2021, customers of restaurants, food establishments, gyms, fitness centers and other high-risk businesses will be required to show proof of full vaccination in order to enter the establishment.  Non-vaccinated may be served in outdoor seating or take out.  Children under 12 years old are exempt.

Effective July 8, the State of Hawaii will eliminate its pre-travel testing/quarantine requirement for domestic travelers to Hawaii who have been fully vaccinated in the United States. Travelers to Hawaii must upload their CDC issued vaccination record card to the state’s Safe Travels Program website and have that card with them upon arrival in the State of Hawaii.

Travelers who are NOT vaccinated or not fully vaccinated at the time of travel, are still required to upload their negative test result to the Safe Travels system PRIOR to departure. As an alternative to uploading, travelers may bring a hard copy of their negative test result with them before boarding their flight.

Current state and local mandates do not allow guests to quarantine at any VI resort locations. Guests needing to quarantine must do so at an approved hotel (at their own cost).

  • For Kauhale Makai, please make sure you have been in contact with Maui Condo and Homes at (808) 879-5445 from 8am-4pm and (808) 842-0904 after hours, for the coded door entry information. Prior to arrival, you will need to upload your certification for negative testing to the third-party manager, Maui Condo and Homes.
  • Parking at Kauhale Makai:  You must get a parking pass from the onsite office.  Parking is open/not assigned, except where coned or noted otherwise.

Starting 1/19/21 - travelers into Maui County are required to download the AlohaSafe Alert contact tracing app or have the Google app exposure notification from their home state active on their phone or enable their exposure notification setting on their mobile device and present it to the screeners at the airport.  For more information visit AlohaSafeAlert.org.

Renovation/Construction Projects

The Kauhale Makai will begin a landscaping project 09/20/2021 and it is anticipated to be complete by 11/01/2021. During this time expect some noise coming from the Atrium during the hours of 8:00am – 5:00pm Monday – Friday. It is possible that some weekend work will be required.

Resort Info

Check-in: You will receive communication from Waikiki Operations with instructions to access your unit.

Register your vehicle with the onsite management office (located on the ground floor of the Plumeria Building), and identify yourself as a VI Resorts guest. The office will issue you a parking pass for the week. This must be returned to the office when you leave.

Check-out: Check-out is 11:00 am.

Please Note: The Kauhale Makai office located onsite is NOT affiliated with VI Resorts, nor do they address issues related to your VI Unit.

Resort Activities

Resort activities and fees are subject to change at any time due to weather conditions, group sizes, interest and/or season. See resort for times and availability at check-in.

Fees/Taxes

Fines: The following fines will be assessed for non-compliance.

Over-occupancy Policy: $50.00 per person, per night. Occupancy limits apply to all ages including infants.

No Pet Policy: $350.00. Pets are not allowed at VI Resorts.

No Smoking Policy: $350.00. Smoking and vaping (tobacco or Cannabis) are not allowed in rooms, on decks, lanais or patio.

Late Check-Out Policy: $25.00. Charged every half hour after check-out time of 11:00am.

 

Fees

Accommodations/Lodging Tax:  As required by state and local regulations, this nightly tax rate is based on condominium size and season.

Resort Fee: The Kauhale Makai Association of Apartment Owners charges a $30.00 (per stay) resort fee. This fee, applicable to everyone including residents, renters, time share guests, and owners, is in lieu of a parking fee. Resort fees are common and accepted practices in West Maui and in Hawaii, in general. It will be will be added to your VI Operating Fund bill, following your stay.
