Renovation/Construction Projects

Common Area Renovations: 

Pathways:  Repainting of the pathways begins February 5, 2024.  Some areas may be rerouted or temporarily blocked off.

Building 5 will undergo repairs from March 4 - 22, 2024.  Areas around that building may be temporarily blocked off. 

Building 7 undergoes its regular fumigation service from April 23 - 25, 2024.

Travel Info

Transportation:  A car is a necessity.  It is very easy to get lost on your way to the resort if traveling at night.  Street signs are small and area is not well lit.  Public transportation is not readily available.  You should do your major grocery shopping in either Kona (65 miles) or Hilo (56 miles).  Local grocery shopping is limited.

Resort Info

The trash area for the resort is now located in the northwest parking lot and are open from 8:30AM to 9:00PM daily, which is behind the VI check-in office (unit 60).  

Volcanic Activity at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park:

Volcanic activities can affect the air quality at the resort at any time.

Golf Course: 

• The Club at Discovery Harbor golf course is located about a 25 minute drive away from the resort. For more information you can visit The Club at Discovery Harbour – The Club at Discovery Harbour (dhgolfclub.com)

Access:  The buildings do not have elevators. If a ground unit is required, please reserve an EZ access unit.

Room Access: Studios: they are accessed by 9 interior steps.

1 Bedrooms: some have interior stairs

2 Bedrooms: 1 bedroom is located upstairs and 1 bedroom is at the main level.

EZ Access Unit: If you have specific accommodation needs due to mobility or accessibility, please contact your Owner Services representative at 1.800.444.6633 to discuss your options. Due to the age and the structure of the building some units are not accessible for guests with mobility issues.

EZ Access Units are located on the ground floor.

EZ Access Unit offers: lowered sinks/countertops, EZ appliances, lowered mattress (s) & shower chairs.

Air Conditioning: Each unit is equipped with ceiling fans and some units have a portable air conditioning in either the bedroom or living room of the unit. There is a $10 per day energy fee to use the air conditioner. Floor fans are also available. 

Internet WIFI access: Sea Mountain offers WIFI in each condominium unit.  However, please be aware that because of the location of the resort, which is in a remote area and away from any large population center, the reception is sporadic.

Resort Activities

Pool Umbrellas: 

Umbrellas are not allowed at the pool and hot tub area, due to the high winds.

Pool and hot tub hours are 8:30am-9pm. 

BBQ hours are 8:30am-8:15pm

Fees/Taxes

Fines: The following fines will be assessed for non-compliance.

Over-occupancy policy: $50.00 per person, per night. Occupancy limits apply to all ages including infants.

No pet policy: $350.00. Pets are not allowed at VI Resorts. 

No smoking policy: $350.00. Smoking is not allowed in rooms, decks, lanais or patios.

Late check-out policy: $25.00. Charged every half hour after check-out time of 11:00am.

Accommodations/Lodging Tax: As required by state and local regulations, this nightly tax rate is based on condominium size and season and charged at the current rate upon arrival.

Hawaii accommodation taxes will be increasing by 3% on 02/07/2022.
